Reasons Other Than Deliberate Breaking
A crack in the window or windshield normally elicits one response from the average person: “WHO BROKE MY WINDOW?” It’s reasonable to suspect/expect some degree of negligence or a scuffle-produced accident for the damage as those are the usual root causes. However, that’s not really always the case. Any number of broken glass repair experts would actually say that there are quite a few culprits to a chip or a crack in the glass, but the most common are the three mentioned below.
Physical Impact
Now, as already mentioned, glass shatters or, at the very least, chips when there’s some impact involved. Often, this impact is human activity–induced. Say, a wayward baseball from neighborhood kids having a few afternoon rounds of the game or a burglar swinging a crowbar against your window to sneak into your home. But then there are also those outside of human activity, like animals colliding into glass surfaces at just the right speed.
Weather Conditions
With certain types of glass used as a construction material (for windows and glass doors), they are easily subject to a variety of weather conditions and changes. Erratic fluctuations in temperature with the coming and going of different seasons can cause serious wear. Broken glass repair specialists warn that so much moisture can damage window components, which then lead to the eventual breaking.
Age of the Glass
Broken glass repair technicians also claim that even without the force or even the changes in weather, glass can become vulnerable enough to sustain damages effortlessly. Apparently, even in areas where the climate is the least bit damaging, time is still an agent of deterioration.
Given the above information, it’s safe to say that not a lot is required to do some damage to glass in general. However, that fact is hardly a cause for despair since there are the likes of Kevin's Glass & Mirror from Orlando, FL to restore broken glass back to their former glory.
