How Many Ways Are There to Remove Scratches from Glass Surfaces?

As a company that specializes in broken window repairs, we know a lot of ways for removing scratches from glass surfaces. Different methods have various effectiveness. Also, they are suitable for different types of scratches. Some methods are useless against deeper scratches. To make an educated decision about how to remove those scratches, you need to know all the methods available to you.

1. When dealing with minor damage and very small scratches, there are several mild methods that you can try. Depending on the size of the scratch. they may have different effectiveness. Toothpaste is the first method. You apply a small amount of clear whitening toothpaste to the scratch and rub it with a clean polishing cloth. Repeat this several times, and check the results.
2. The second way to treat small scratches is with an ammonia solution. Mix a solution of three cups of water and 1/2 an ounce(15ml) of ammonia. Get a soft cleaning cloth, and soak it in the solution. Rub it over the scratched area in circular motions, and see what happens. Once you wipe it away, there should be no signs of any damage.
3. For more serious scratches, you will need to call a window repair company or look for a product that is good for fixing scratches.You can usually find such products in hardware stores. Ask for a kit for professional broken window repairs. They may ask you what kind of glass you’re repairing, how thick, how deep the damage is, and so on. Then, they will recommend you the most suitable product. Follow the instructions on it. You may have to use a drill and attach a sanding disk or brush to it. Run the drill on the lowest setting, and polish the area.
4. Another way to handle a scratch is with jeweler’s rouge. Place some of it on a lamb wool pad for buffing, and polish the scratched area with it. Use circular motions, and don’t forget to rinse it when the scratch is removed.
